The annual Hawaii International Film Festival is a huge tourist draw, as is the Punchbowl, AKA the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, a poignant memorial to the US Armed Forces.
Most of us poke fun at Spam. But it's a really big deal in Honolulu. The locals adore it, and you'll find delicacies like Spam musubi and Spam sushi served throughout the city. Honestly!
Honolulu offers several beautiful gardens to visit including the Foster Botanical Garden, Liliʻuokalani Botanical Garden, Walker Estate, Koko Crater Botanical Garden. All of them are stuffed full of the most extraordinary plants and flowers. Huge waves in December mark the annual Van’s Triple Crown, showcasing the finest in professional surfing. Visit the stunning Iolani Palace, Waikiki Aquarium and the lovely Manoa falls. Enjoy the Bishop Museum, climb the Haiku stairs or, for water-based fun, thrills and spills, enjoy Wet 'n' Wild Hawaii. For one of the most breathtaking views around, try Nuʻuanu Pali on the Koʻolau mountain, at the top of the Nuʻuanu Valley. Panoramic just doesn't do it justice. It is truly, unbelievably epic.
Take a tour of Shangri La, a glorious Islamic-style mansion built by the wealthy heiress Doris Duke. You'll find it near Diamond Head. Feel the ocean's power and majesty at Hālona Blowhole just off Hanauma Bay at Hālona Point. Relax at Kūhiō Beach Park on Waikiki Beach, popular with locals because it's so sheltered. Visit the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbour. Or take in a gig at the Waikiki Shell outdoor venue. There's much more, of course, a plethora of top class natural and man-made tourist attractions that'll keep you busy for weeks.
