A stunning destination with a small-town feel
Located across the Big Bay from downtown San Diego, Coronado Island is home to pristine sand beaches which are consistently voted some of the best in the entire USA. The beaches glisten in the sunlight due to the presence of the mineral Mica, and the waters offer a gentle surf making it perfect for paddling in the sea. Visit the iconic Hotel del Coronado. Built in 1888, this hotel is a National Historic Landmark with a fascinating past enriched with royals, Hollywood stars, politicians and celebrity scandal.
Take a walk down Orange Avenue, Coronado’s main street, and explore a host of shops, restaurants, theatres, galleries and the Coronado Museum of History & Art. At the other end of the island you’ll find Coronado’s Ferry Landing with more shops and restaurants as well as superb views of San Diego’s downtown skyline. Cycling is huge on Coronado Island with 15 miles of dedicated bike paths meandering through historic neighbourhoods and along the coastline.
