One of the world's finest and most famous zoos
Located in beautiful Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo has been an icon in Southern Californian tourism for 100 years now and was voted TripAdvisor’s Number 1 Zoo in the World in 2015. The zoo is spread over 100 acres and features more than 4,000 animals of nearly 800 species from every corner of the globe. There’s no denying that the stars of San Diego Zoo are the giant pandas. As one of only a few zoos in the world to feature them, people flock to the zoo to catch a rare glimpse of the loveable pandas.
Exhibits are based on different parts of the world, from the Asian rainforest where you’ll find monkeys and gorillas, to the Arctic tundra with polar bears and the Australian outback with kangaroos and koalas. Visitors can enjoy a number of tours, experiences and special animal encounters. Watch the pandas enjoying their breakfast before the zoo opens with the Early Morning with Pandas experience, or ride the Africa Tram for a 45 minute guided tour around the zoo.
