Explore the USA’s longest serving aircraft carrier
Climb aboard one of America’s longest serving aircraft carriers and walk in the footsteps of 225,000 sailors who fought for their country. Explore over 60 exhibits and 29 restored historic aircraft on board one of the largest aircraft carriers in the US Navy fleet. Operating between the years of 1945 and 1992, the USS Midway once carried 4,500 shipmates a time and served in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm.
Discover the ins and outs of the ship on a self-guided audio tour narrated by former Midway sailors and officers, and meet various museum docents along the way who will happily share fascinating facts and stories about the ship and its history. Explore the galleys, sleeping quarters, engine room, ship’s jail and the 4 acre flight deck. You can even climb aboard aircraft and cockpits, experience two types of flight simulator and enjoy the Ejection Seat Theater. The USS Midway Museum is located on downtown San Diego’s Embarcadero alongside Navy Pier.
