A haven along the coast
Located just 25 minutes from San Mateo, Half Moon Bay is the oldest settlement in San Mateo County and is a fantastic place for a morning or afternoon visit. Once known as Spanishtown, you’ll find a wonderful array of boutiques, art galleries and eateries along Main Street which sits at the epicentre of the historic downtown area. Half Moon Bay is divided into five distinct regions, each providing something different from the next. As mentioned before, historic Main Street is great for dining, shopping and cultural offerings.
The Pumpkin Region is the best place to go for organic fruit stands, farm experiences and glass blowing. Visitors can hike, bike and horseback ride around the stunning Redwood Region. If you’re into wine tasting head to the Santa Cruz Mountain Region where you’ll discover more than 70 superb wineries. Then there’s the Coastal Region, with miles of sandy shores and quiet coves, this is the home of fantastic surf, stunning scenery and incredible sunsets.
