California’s most legendary festival
Every year for two weekends at the end of April the Colorado Desert welcomes almost 200,000 festival goers for the music event of the year, the iconic Coachella Festival. Officially known as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, this legendary event is held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio in the sun-drenched Coachella Valley. The festival is home to five main stages as well as a number of smaller venues dotted throughout and offers music of every genre including rock, pop, indie, hip hop and electronic dance.
Expect to be truly impressed by the line-up as this festival has seen some of the most prestigious acts in music history. Past performers include Radiohead, Amy Winehouse, AC/DC, Jay-Z, Foo Fighters and Paul McCartney. Art plays a pivotal role in the Coachella Festival and visitors can explore a whole host of interactive installations and huge sculptures which provide the barren desert surroundings with bursts of colour.
